About Us
The Pleasant Grove High Band Boosters was founded in August 2005 with the opening of the new combined campuses of Pleasant Grove High School and Katherine Albiani Middle School in East Elk Grove. These schools serve the communities of East Elk Grove, Sheldon, Wilton, Sloughhouse, Rancho Murieta, and Sunrise/Douglas. Our band takes pride in representing its communties and neighborhoods and are grateful for the outpouring of local support.
Our music director, Mr. Mike Souliere, was a graduate of Elk Grove High School and was a former student of Mr. DeWald's. He has been the Music Director at Monterey Trail High School since the school opened. We are fortunate to have Mr. Souliere come to PGHS and KAMS to take over the helm of this great music program. Mr. Jay DeWald retired from EGUSD in 2010 after 31 years of service.
District-wide financial cutbacks in education have made community support necessary to continue providing materials and opportunities to our music students. The Booster Club exists to provide moral and financial support to the instrumental and related programs of Pleasant Grove High School (and previously Albiani Middle School as well); we are a major source of the fundraising revenues that provide for band equipment purchase and repair, music purchases, competition fees, cost for special instruction, and performance travel by band students.
The Boosters are incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the State of California.
