Santa Cruz Jazz Festival

The Pleasant Grove Festival Jazz Band and Jazz Combo will be participating in the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival on March 20-21, 2020.  This festival takes place at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA.  Students will be performing on Friday, and they will have concert tickets for the Friday night concert.  The band will spend Saturday at the famous Santa Cruz Boardwalk.​  If your student is in Jazz Band but not the "Festival Band," they are still invited to come and watch/support and enjoy the rides.

Big Band performs at 10:30 am in VAPA 5156
Combo performs at 4:30 pm in VAPA 1001 

​The group will depart from Elk Grove early morning (5:15 am) of March 20 to make a 10 am warm-up time for the big band.  Everyone also attends the Combo performance at 4:30 pm and the Guest Artist Concert at 7 pm.  We will stay in a hotel in Santa Cruz Friday night and spend the next day at the Boardwalk before driving home Saturday evening.

7:00 PM Friday Concert – Instrumental Artist, Bria Skonberg, Vocal Artist, ARC Vocal Jazz Ensemble.  Admission: $5.  Students and chaperones: Free.

Festival Venue​

Festival passes: $10 prepaid.  Additional $5 for Friday night concert.
 
The festival will have T-shirts for sale for $20 and stickers for $2.​

Hotel reservations have been made for the Festival Jazz Band students.  Students will share 5 people per room (2 Queen beds + sofa). Jazz students’ shared rooms are FREE thanks to great fundraising efforts!!

We still have three extra rooms reserved for drivers, students, or other band families who still need a room for Friday night.  YOU MUST CONTACT Mrs. Koford BY MARCH 15 IF YOU WANT A ROOM, or it will be released on 3/16.  [Queen Rooms are $201.34 each, King Room is $181.35, tax and breakfast included].  Please email ___________ to RSVP ASAP.
 
Please take into account the 10:30AM performance time on Friday.  Some families are driving on Thursday evening and staying 2 nights. You may make your own reservation directly with this hotel or other hotels.  Please contact us if you are having difficulty finding hotel accommodations. 

Transportation

Students will be carpooling down in private cars to this event.  There will not be a bus.  It is important that the driver is able to take the same students to and from the event the entire trip, or else make sure they have a ride back.  All drivers will need to have their Auto Use Forms (below) and fingerprints filed with the School District ahead of time.
